Improving Education
Improving Education
Free college tuition is still applicable for low income households but the students pay for the classes first
To incentivize the students to do better, we will give back the portion of their money based on their earned grades
Provide opportunities for these students to get free tutoring and job opportunities in their fields of studies
Help these students with job placements during school and upon graduation
Immersing of lots of help at all school levels
Provide lots of financial and technical help for all the teachers
Better education builds a better future for our community and its citizens.
For Elementary, Middle and High Schools:
Teachers are the backbones of how great our citizens can be. We will pay teachers more and let them work less. We will hire more assistants so that the teachers will have more help during the school work hours and no work at home. Offering a higher salary to start and no outside of school work will entice more people to become teachers and easier to retain them. We will provide more supports to the schools with more school supplies and better opportunities for the teachers to grow and advance through continuing education and career advancements.
The in-state programs that we will develop and maintain will cut wasteful spending and re-invest in our state's crucial programs such as our schools.
For Community Colleges:
Lower income families will have the opportunities to attend community colleges for free with volunteerism in their communities. Here's my proposal of how it will work. Of course, there's room for discussion and improvements. This program is meant to incentivize the students who do well.
The approved student would have to pay for the classes first and then, if that student gets an 'A', then 100% of the fees goes back to them. A grade of a 'B' would return 80%, a grade of a 'C' gets 70%, a 'D' equals 60% back an 'F' gets nothing back because of the professors' time, a space in the classroom that could have gone to another student and the schools' resources. There will be hardship on some families to pay upfront, so we will have special programs for them not to pay upfront but then there volunteer hours would have to be a little more.
A = 100% back
B+ = 90% back
B = 80% back
C+ = 75% back
C = 70% back
D+= =65% back
D= 60% back
F = 0% back
THEN... whatever percentage the student gets back, that percentage equals the amount of hours that they have to volunteer to give back. Programs such as helping out at the after school programs to help kids with their studies, or helping out at the nursing home, or doing things on the phone or internet. There will be many volunteer opportunities everywhere! We will have a map that shows a 10 mile radius of all the sanctioned, volunteer programs of where each student lives or work. This will get more giving back into the communities, more friendships made and possibly a new job opportunity afterward.
For students who pay first:
100% back = 20 hours of volunteer
90% back = 18 hours of volunteer
80% back = 16 hours of volunteer
75% back = 15 hours of volunteer
70% back = 14 hours of volunteer
65% back = 13 hours of volunteer
60% back = 12 hours of volunteer
For students who cannot pay first:
A = 100% back = 25 hours of volunteer
B+ = 90% back = 23 hours of volunteer
B = 80% back = 21 hours of volunteer
C+ = 75% back = 20 hours of volunteer
C = 70% back = 19 hours of volunteer
D+ = 65% back = 18 hours of volunteer
D = 60% back = 17 hours of volunteer
F = 30 hours of volunteer
*Whatever the current opt-out to drop a class, so as not to incur the cost of the class, should still remain as rule.
Nothing is for free because someone else is paying for it one way or another! If anyone benefits in any way from the social programs, then they should pay back in the forms of volunteering in their communities. We will have thousands of giving back programs that would be 5-10 miles radius of where a person lives or work. They can choose to volunteer at an after school program to tutor kids, or help out at a convalescent center, or help beautify their local parks with a park cleanup, or something online. What a person gets from the social programs will determine how much they would need to give back into their communities. This will help foster a stronger tie to our communities and we would all benefit from happier and more inclusive communities.D
